MMP PART B
Final game design - http://flowlab.io/game/play/1405570
Powerpoint for flowjab game planning.
This game was inspired by the original. Same layout and has the visually retro appeal. As you progress and the score increases, the speed of the ball also increases. At the start the movement was very slow, but i was relieved when it started to speed up and became more of a challenge. It did appear quite glitchy in parts, the ball would bounce back even when it hadn't touched the platform.
This was a very simple "game", with not much going on. The style is clearly inspired from the Mario platform games, but it would of been nice if it could of progressed somehow or included more things to play with. Once all the coins have been released the game is essentially completed. I did notice some other levels to link in when researching, however.

GDMM 103 MULTIMEDIA PRINCIPLES
Final idiom animation - "when frogs grow hair"
These designs are the beginning of my animation design. I made them using a graphics tablet, and it was my first time using one properly, so although they are basic and simple im quite happy with how they turned out for my first try. Im planning to add more detail, colour to the frog and some sort of background, and also allow the sequence to flow more fluently by using Adobe AfterEffects.
These are some sketches/storyboards that present my ideas for my idiom animatic. I decided to go with "When frogs grow hair" as i thought it was original and unique and i could be really fun with it. I immediately decided that i would change the typical 'long hair' style to a cool mohawk as this just gave it a more experimental approach.

12 PRINCIPLES OF ANIMATION TASK
3 animation storyboard ideas.
This short film is about the journey of a mother and her son escaping their home. The animation style is a simple stop motion of outlines and basic illustrations, however there are key points throughout that are vibrantly coloured and stand out from the rest of the film. A key section is when her son is required to wear a lifejacket, which is highlighted in bright orange. This suggests that the characters could possibly be refuges fleeing their war torn country. Id say out of the 12 principles of animation, "appeal" is a big principle in this film. Appeal includes having an easy-to-read design, solid drawing, and a personality. It starts with strong character development and being able to tell your story through the art of animation.

"A DAY IN THE LIFE OF LUCKY" Short film
Producing the film gave me the chance to play around and learn the basics of Premier Pro. I thought it was very useful to obtain the knowledge, even if it was just the basics as it allowed me to get to know my way around the programme for future projects. I thought the feedback for the film was also useful and i like hearing constructive criticism as it lets me know how and where i need to improve.
Two separate storyboards pictured above. I like the theme some artists use when creating a storyboard by giving character and depth to the faces, which allows them to come to life. This isn't necessarily an important detail in this project but i still wanted to include some variation.
These are some quick mood boards for my film idea. The first is a mood board just for ideas on my story board layout, as i wanted to make the cat look quirky and "cartoony". The second is a mood board presenting the different activities i would be filming, ranging from napping to her classic trick of jumping up at the back door.
For my short film, i took major inspiration from the short video below. I really enjoy all aspects of the video, from the camera angles and shots, to the music in the background. Taking inspiration from this, i have decided to use a very similar effect for my own film - using short clips to highlight the everyday life of my own cat. I will also be using the song "In My Life" by The Beatles. I feel like the song fits nicely and also includes the key words "In my life" which is crucial when linking it to my film theme. The song will be played quietly over the raw sound of the clip footage.

Film Lighting Workshop and Outcomes
In groups, we began the workshops. We started playing around with studio lighting using a prop - producing different levels and depths of lighting to create harsh or minimal shadows. It is clear to see the different emotions produced when viewing the prop in different fields of depth. The depth of the features are pronounced particularly in picture one and two.
Here we used a slightly different technique with ourselves. Footage of me particularly highlights the features of the face, and the shadows are pronounced because of the angle of the natural light. The light also allows my hair to show the fine details, which would not be seen so pronounced if the light was directly on my face.
For this workshop we simply produced short clips that showed use of the microphone. This was useful as id never used a microphone on a professional camera before, so i felt it was necessary to have this knowledge under the belt for future projects.
